This photograph of my SongFest studio and loving mentor, Dr. Gwen Detwiler, was taken after our final young artist performance at the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles. I performed in many art song masterclasses and concerts with these outstanding young artist throughout the festival. This experience provided a community of world-class teachers interested in communication through music, an idea that was so inspiring to me that I innovated projects to continue exploring it during my last year at CCM.
Each artifact represents a different aspect of my development as an artist. The first artifact is a portion of a recording of myself singing "Tornami a vagheggiar" from Handel's Alcina for a masterclass at SongFest. This second artifact segment contains the poster, program notes, and Pan Pipes SAI Magazine published article for the CCM Composer Concert, an event I created in order to celebrate all I had learned at SongFest. The third artifact segment contains the program notes and poster I created for my Capstone Recital Project, which are largely based on the information I learned at SongFest. Finally, this artifact also includes a recording of myself performing Libby Larsen's Cowboy Songs during my Capstone Recital.
